I've got PUPPS
No, I didn't get a new puppy yet, probably not for another year or so, but I do have PUPPS. PUPPS is Pruritic Uticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy. Sounds fun, huh?? Well it really sucks. Its symptoms consists of ITCHING and more ITCHING. Imagine bug bites or a scratch that won't go away or are relived by much of anything. Aveeno medicated lotion and Benedryl work for a little while, but don't totally relieve the constant itch. They more or less take the edge off. What PUPPS is, is a rash that develops on the abdomen, usually around stretch marks, then can move to other parts of the body such as the back, hips, butt, arms, legs, feet and hands. I have itched just about everywhere. I wake up at night itching and sometimes can't sleep. It usually begins around 35 weeks, more commonly with your first baby and with boys. The good new is, it is completely harmless to me and to Charlie. The bad news is I have to deal with it til he is born. Delivery is what makes it go away. I don't know if it slowly gets better the closer to delivery I get or I am just used to the constant itching, so it doesn't seem as irritating as it was a couple of weeks ago. Well, I only have to deal with it for 3 weeks max, so once I hold Charlie, I am sure the itching will seem like it never happened. It is all going to be worth it itch in the end!!!

Weekend Fun
This past weekend, Pat and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend together. Friday night, we had dinner with our friends The Clark's. It was great catching up with them and seeing their boy, Jack. Charlie already has a friend, Jack will be one on Charlie's due date!!!
On Saturday, we had our childbirth class. It was very informational and a good overview of what is going to happen sometime in the next three weeks or so. Pat even said, "I didn't realize labor takes that long!" He thinks it is like the movies, your water breaks and out comes the baby, Ha ha I wish it was that easy!!
Saturday night, we headed to Arrowhead to check out our new season tickets and the new stadium, oh and I guess to watch the Chefs, I mean Chiefs. From what I saw on the field, not much has changed with the team, despite the new GM, new coach, new quarterback, new offensive coordinator and still the same horrible plays!!! It could be another loooong season for us Chiefs fans. As for our tickets, we have great seats, 4 rows from the field on the side of the end zone on the visitors side or the sunny side for the cold games!!! The renovated stadium is also nice, it will be pretty sweet when it is all completed. Oh, I forgot to mention the down pour of rain about 4 min into the game. That was pretty cool. The worst part was we had ponchos in the car that Pat forgot to tell me about until the down pour started!! Luckily, we had some friends there that got us up into a suite for the 2nd half of the game. Otherwise, we were leaving at the half. It was fun to be at the game, since I probably won't be making it to many games!!! I love football season!!!
Sunday, we spent a lazy day at home doing laundry, watching TV, and relaxing. Just enjoying our last couple of weekends as a couple, before the baby arrives. We are getting the nursery all put together, so when it is all ready, I will post some more pics.

Polly
On July 27, we lost a very special part of the family. My precious Polly went to doggie heaven at 5:30 am. She died right between Pat and I in our bed. We don't know what happened to her, but we think she had some sort of neurological problem, which led to a stroke or an aneurysm. She began to act funny on Sunday, but nothing we thought was life threatening. My plan was to take her to the vet first thing in the morning. I kept waking up to check on her and to see what time it was and as the night went on I got more worried. Then at 5:30 Pat and I both heard her move around and do this weird arching, stretching thing and the next thing we know she is not breathing and then her heart stopped. It all happened so fast. We continued to pet her and told her how much we are going to miss her.
Later that morning, my mom and sister came over to see Polly. Then Pat, my sister and I headed to Boonville, MO to bury her on his Dad's farm. We will always know where she is and we can go visit her. We had a grave stone made for her too. She is going to be greatly missed.
Polly was such a loving, adorable pet. She was the ideal lap dog. She loved to have her belly and her paws rubbed. She loved to steal toys from her brother Harley and they also liked to play tug of war. Her favorite past time was sleeping. I am very saddened that she won't get to meet Charlie. I know they would have had lots of fun together. Harley also misses his little sister too. He has been sad and looking for her to cause some trouble.
RIP Polly, We miss you!!!

Welcome
Welcome Friends and Family.
I have started this blog to keep you updated on our family, which will soon grow to three in September with the arrival of Baby Charlie. We are getting very excited to meet him and can't wait for everyone to meet him too!!!
Our summer has been pretty busy with lake trips, baby showers, a sick dog, transforming the "pink room" into the nursery and of course working. We are looking forward to another busy weekend with the "Pike" shower for us and two of our other friends expecting new little ones and the Imhoff Family reunion, which is Pat's Moms side of the family. We are excited to see some great friends and family that we have not seen in awhile. We are also almost done with the nursery. We just need to put a second coat of paint in the hall to the bathroom and do a few touch ups. I will post some pictures when it is complete.
That is all for now and thanks for reading our blog.
Love,
Jennifer and Pat
